In March of 2014, WTS Puget Sound Chapter’s Transportation YOU participants had the unique opportunity to meet with six women leaders who are transforming Seattle’s waterfront. The chapter created a video of their experiences to share the amazing day they had with their mentors. The video showcases 14 young girls who share their dreams for the future and six mentors that show them the fascinating opportunities that are available to them in the transportation field.

The WTS volunteers—experts in the field—met with the Transportation YOU girls from Franklin High School to educate them on Seattle Waterfront’s environment. The students then visited the Seawall, Coleman Dock, and Waterfront project sites. Participants had the opportunity to see the behind-the-scenes happenings at the waterfront and hear firsthand about the exciting projects from the mentors. After the tour, the WTS volunteers answered questions about their careers and enjoyed lunch with the girls at the Waterfront. The video truly captures both a group of girls with an amazing future ahead of them and women in the transportation field inspiring the next generation of female engineers.
